How to get a job while studying for an ACCA qualification

The great thing about the ACCA course is that it is really flexible and the pace at which a student decides to study is dependent on his/her circumstance. Find how to do ACCA for a fraction of the normal cost.

Here are some tips on looking for a part time accounting job while doing ACCA.

Chartered accountancy practice

Visit your local chartered accountancy practices and ask if they have any type of part time opening for a dedicated ACCA student. Remember, an ACCA student is also required to gain some practical experience, as completing the student handbook of practical knowledge is also compulsory.

Working or gaining experience through a chartered accountancy practice would be the ideal foil to the course itself. They would be familiar with an ACCA study course and are more likely to provide assistance and guide you with your objectives. This will give you a great opportunity to land fulltime job related to your ACCA course.

Non-accountancy firms

It does not have to be in an accountancy firm, you can look for an accountancy job in any firm that has a position with significant accounting role. It could be an accounting department of a small to mid sized firm or even some book keeping experience in a local charity.

Voluntary/unpaid position

If you are unable to land a paid position, you can always try for a voluntary accounting job at a charity or any local government affiliated organisation that are often keen to gain the extra help, especially when they do not need to pay anything.

While an unpaid job might not be what you are after, gaining highly relevant and practical skills is all the same and highly beneficial for your future career prospects.

Look for a role in a local newspaper

They often have job ads for seeking people with basic accounting knowledge. The roles usually range from assistant roles to those with more responsibility attached.

Internet job sites

These are often a goldmine. Everyday thousands of jobs are advertised, so it id not too difficult to find jobs locally seeking for accounting positions either for bookkeeping positions to assistant accountant and a lot more besides.

There are also lots of training positions for accounting students, especially those studying for a qualification such an ACCA.

Sites such as Reed and Monster are great for accounting job listings and have a wider ranging accountancy positions than can be found in other vacancy boards.

There are also specialised accountancy recruitment agencies that can be found on the internet.
